BURRUMBUTTOCK
ON Monday night [9 Aug 1937] the local hall was filled to its capacity, when the many friends of two popular residents, Miss E. Colston, of the postal staff, and Mr. Les M'Kay, tendered them a gift evening prior to their marriage on Saturday. The evening was spent in games, competitions and dancing. Mr. E. Schliebs was chairman and, on behalf of the gathering, handed over two well-laden tables with valuable and useful gifts to Miss Colston; and to Mr. M'Kay, on behalf of the football team, a travelling rug. Mr. C. Groch and Mr. S. Schulz supported the chairman's remarks. Rev. Grout, on behalf of the Methodist Young People's Society, presented the young couple with a Bible. Mr. M'Kay thanked everyone present, on behalf of Miss Colston and himself, for the evening and the gifts. [4, 5]
