      ATKINS. -- On July 5, 1939, at a private hospital, Launceston, Claude Jeffrey, dearly loved husband of Etty Atkins and loved father of Norman, Florence (Mrs. H. Gray), Jeffrey, Daphne, Glory, and Clem., of 51 High-street, Launceston. Aged 55 years.

      OBITUARY
      Mr. Claude J. Atkins
      The death occurred suddenly yesterday of Mr. Claude J. Atkins, of 51 High-street, Launceston, after an illness lasting only a few days. Mr. Atkins was a valued member of the composing staff of "The Examiner" job printing department, and a member of a family well known in the Evandale district, where he was born 55 years ago. Except for a break of two or three years, in Victoria, he spent his life in Tasmania, and was at one time a member of the printing firm of Tabart Bros. and Atkins, in the Quadrant. At the time of his death he had been associated with "The Examiner" job printing department for eleven years.
      Mr Atkins will be well remembered in football circles. He took a great interest in the game in past years, and was at one time secretary of the Northern Tasmanian Football Association. He was also secretary of the Northern Tasmanian Cricket Association for several years. The cause of death was pneumonia.
      Mr. Atkins leaves a widow, three sons (Norman, Geoffrey, and Clem). and two daughters (Daphne and Glory) living at High-street, and another daughter, Florence (Mrs. H. M. Gray) resident at Trevallyn.
      The funeral will leave 51 High-street to-day at 4 p.m. for Carr Villa.
