    • MT. TARAMPA.
      Monday.
At his home, Mt. Tarampa, on October 1, Mr. Wilhelm Jackwitz, one of the pioneers, died after an illness of several years. Born on March 19 1865, in Potzlow (Germany), he left Germany with his parents and five brothers in the year 1878, at the age of 13 years, in the sailing ship "Herschel." After a voyage of 16 weeks he landed at Maryborough. After a stay of eight days, they came on to Tarampa, where the family resided for three years. From there they removed to Blenheim, where Mr. Jackwitz resided until his marriage.

In 1888 he married Miss Caroline Schroder and again settled in the Tarampa district, where they remained for 34 years. The remainder of his life he spent at Mt. Tarampa. He was constantly attended to during his long illness by Rev. H. H. Simpson, who also officiated at the funeral. The pall-bearers were Messrs. F. O. Litzow, H. Lehmann, F. Jackwitz, and D. Truloff. The funeral on October 3 was largely attended, over 60 cars and vehicles taking part.

The late Mr. Jackwitz leaves his widow, one son, Friedrich (Mt. Tarampa), six daughters, Mrs. F. O. Litzow, Mrs. H. Lehmann (Coolana), Mrs. W. Bick (Windera), Mrs. Carl Hohnke (South Nanango), Mrs. Rev. B. Hohnke (Townsville), and Mrs. D. Truloff (Minden)-24 grandchildren, and a great grand-child; also five brothers, Messrs. Friedrich (Laidley), Hermann (Lowood), Albert (Forest Hill), Otto (Woodlands), and Paul (Blenheim).
